pritzi-blog

In July 2022, I started to investigate the phenomenon of the playwright and theatre director Anna Pritzi and her "Amazonentheater", an all-women theatre group in the Tyrol of the 19th century. I search for Pritzi's lost work in the city of Innsbruck and Tyrolean archives, and then study and discuss it with performance and theatre makers in Berlin.

This blog will be my travelogue in which I will report on my search for Anna Pritzi, her theatre plays and the "Mädchengesellschaft".

My research is supported by Fonds Darstellende Künste with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media within the program NEUSTART KULTUR.

A short note for a better understanding of the blog: Anna Pritzi's official name is Anna Reithmayr née Brixin. Pritzi or Pritzin is a variation of her maiden name Brix or Brixin. In the theatre context, she probably went by her maiden name and its variations.
